Thanks to the custom point-of-sales app we built in-house for iPad, our dealers feel like they are part of a community, and more integrated in the company.”
Mario Alvisi, Sales Performance Development Manager, Ducati
Ducati has been synonymous with motorcycles since 1946, when brothers Adriano, Bruno, and Marcello Ducati first attached a lightweight motor to a bicycle frame. Since then, Ducati motorcycles have evolved into internationally coveted dream machines known for their precision engineering, lightning speed, and sleek design. So when the company needed the perfect sales support platform to reflect its high-performance brand, they turned to iPad.
“Ducati is a unique company,” says Cristiano Silei, Ducati’s Vice President of Global Sales. “We don’t have ordinary customers; we have “Ducatistas”-dedicated fans. We don’t have ordinary dealers; we have loyal business partners who love motorcycles. Ducati has always been one of the first companies to apply new technologies to motorcycles. And iPad is a real revolution in the way we communicate with both our dealer network and our customers.”
“It was clear from the start that iPad was the right device. It’s the simplicity, the immediate usability. Everyone understands how it works in just a few minutes.”

Cast your mind back to the launch of the iPhone 5 and you might remember some chat about custom apps – and the introduction of a dedicated iPad app from Ducati. Now it's arrived – enabling Ducati dealers to configure custom motorbikes for bike-loving enthusiasts and place orders right from the showroom floor.
Following two years of development, Ducati is rolling out its iPad-flavoured stock management system across its 796 dealer network in 87 countries. Customers can choose from over 300 motorcycle mods and accessories to equip their dream Ducati with and can actually see what it would look like – and more importantly how much it will set them back – in an instant.

The digital edition of the magazine Mondo Ducati – point of reference for all Ducatisti since 1997 (and in Ductalk's opinion one of the best Ducati focused magazines ever, but always in the past in Italian only) – is now available for the iPad, in English. The magazine is also Italian at the price of €1.59 Euro ($1.99 USD) per issue. What’s special about the app is the fact that it’s not just a simple adaptation of the printed version, but rather an app specially formulated, designed and optimised to take advantage of the enormous potential of the iPad: videos, interviews, photographic galleries and virtual visits to the Ducati factory, integrate the usual contents of the magazine. Inside the first number you’ll find interviews with Gianluigi Mengoli, Engine Technical Director, and Andrea, Vehicle Technical Director; road tests of the Diavel and Monster 1100 Evo; they preview specials like the Motocorse Bimota, the Monster by Ducabike and the 999RS by Skarburati. And, they present the never-seen 3-cylinder Desmo engine. Great stuff, the top writers in the industry, access to the deepest well of Ducati knowledge, and now, all in English.
If you don't have an iPad, this is the line in the sand - get thee to an Apple store!!!
