Ducati Scrambler Spotted Again

Ducati Scrambler Spotted Again | Ductalk Ducati News | Scoop.it

The Ducati Scrambler work horse has made its way onto the internet again, this time with Italian site Insella.it getting a glimpse of the prototype on the outskirts of Bologna. While the machine hasn’t developed much further than from the last time it broke cover, we do at least get a better view of the Scrambler’s early lines, and can clearly spot the bike’s air-cooled v-twin engine.

Was Ducati a Decade Early With Its SportClassic Range? Apparently, It Believes So

Was Ducati a Decade Early With Its SportClassic Range? Apparently, It Believes So | Ductalk Ducati News | Scoop.it

Pictured above is a 2008 Ducati GT1000, part of its SportClassic range of motorcycles first displayed way back in 2003. The range was discontinued due to poor sales, but according to an article on the MCN web site Ducati believes the time is right to bring classic looking, air-cooled bikes back. This time they will be under the “Scrambler” moniker, according to MCN.

Really looking forward to seeing what Ducati will be calling a Scrambler as an owner of a couple of vintage Scramblers. Also, for what it's worth, that SR400 looks like a perfect around town customizable little cafe racer. Very appealing...

1969 Ducati 450 Jupiter | The Bike That Changed My Life | Motorcyclist Magazine

1969 Ducati 450 Jupiter | The Bike That Changed My Life | Motorcyclist Magazine | Ductalk Ducati News | Scoop.it
NAME: Steven Panofsky
AGE: 59
HOME: Ukiah, CA
OCCUPATION: Maintenance Technician

"I bought my first 1969 Ducati 450 Scrambler, a.k.a. Jupiter, for $600 in ’71. It was my junior year at Los Altos High, and I was ready to upgrade from my 250 Monza. It took many hours in the apricot orchards to come up with the money.

“Riding has been my love ever since. That Jupiter did it for me. I could go on dirt roads and trails, twisties and longer adventures. With typical Ducati handling, light weight, plenty of midrange torque and a smoothshifting, five-speed gearbox, it was really fun to ride. I also learned the mechanical intricacies of a bevel-drive Ducati, since it always needed fettling.

Ducati GT1000 Street Scrambler | The Kneeslider.com

Ducati GT1000 Street Scrambler | The Kneeslider.com | Ductalk Ducati News | Scoop.it

Ducati made a few scramblers back in the 1960s, ranging from 250cc to 450cc. They were popular then and still have an enthusiastic following today, but when the British offered their big twin street scramblers in the 1970s, Ducati didn’t respond.

Mark McClean is a fan of those early Ducatis, but when the Pierre Terblanche designed Ducati Sport Classics appeared, he thought he had a great place to start, giving Ducati the big street scrambler it never had. Mark began with a 2007 GT1000 and went to work....

Ducati Road 350 Custom | BikeEXIF.com | Ductalk Ducati News | Scoop.it

Building motorcycles is an art as well as a science. While some builders take it very seriously, others have a sense of irreverence. The lighter touch often seems to come from mainland Europe; the French outfit Blitz springs to mind, and another is Spain’s El Solitario, run by David Borras.
‘Chupito’ is the latest from El Solitario, and is based on a 1977 Ducati Road 350. These nimble singles were marketed under the Ducati name, but were actually built by the short-lived Spanish company MotoTrans, which was taken over by Yamaha in the 80s.

Memorable Motorcycle: Ducati 450 Scrambler | Motorcycle-USA.com

Memorable Motorcycle: Ducati 450 Scrambler | Motorcycle-USA.com | Ductalk Ducati News | Scoop.it
For this edition of Memorable Motorcycles Frank Melling presents the 450 Ducati Scrambler - a bike ahead of its time but full of quirks.

If ever a bike needed to be put into context it is the Ducati 450 scrambler – and the key to understanding this rather lovely motorcycle is to appreciate just how big motocross was in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Today, if you ask a MotoGP fan who the current World Motocross Champion is, you would be lucky to get any answer – let alone an accurate one.

Not so 40 years ago. Road riders and circuit racing fans were heavily involved in the motocross scene and knew the factories and bikes as well as they could recite the exploits of legendary road racers like Mike Hailwood and Giacomo Agostini....more here: http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/289/12775/Motorcycle-Article/Memorable-Motorcycle--Ducati-450-Scrambler.aspx

67 350 widecase scrambler motor (non desmo) and frame, stock motor, frame delugged and rear loop pulled in. Yamaha R5b forks up front and 13” shrouded shocks from a BSA out back. Akront rims (21” and 18”) laced to Ducati hub in rear and Yamaha 175 hub up front. Mystery tires that I sanded all the lettering off of. Battery is tiny, coil is from a Yamaha. The giant handlebars are from the ‘60s. Seat is a chopper pillion pad and the gas tank is a narrowed Yamaha tank with Italian petcocks. Megaphone is short, thick and loud (just how I like my women).

"Ducati Scrambler" Trademarked at the USPTO | Ductalk Ducati News | Scoop.it

Last month, Asphalt & Rubberbroke the news that Ducati was working on a scrambler-style machine, appropriately named the Ducati Scrambler.

The machine is said to be similar in design to the one Pierre Terblanche inked while he was with the Bologna Brand, though reports and sources have varied on what sort of motor the new model would use in its final form.

Whether it be water or liquid-cooled, single or twin-cylindered, the 2014 Ducati Scambler cometh, and A&Rhas the trademark application to prove it.

Ducati Scrambler | Coming Soon - Motorcyclist Magazine | Ductalk Ducati News | Scoop.it

Ducati has lately done an impressive job penetrating new market segments with sophisticated (and expensive) models like the Multistrada and Diavel. The Italian manufacturer’s next major growth strategy, however, will likely target the opposite end of the price and performance spectrum with a new generation of inexpensive and accessible Scramblers.
