WSBK News. Carlos Checa reiterates his frustrations at his Althea Ducati's top speed disadvantage as pace in the bends is undone by down the Moscow Raceway straight.
Carlos Checa says his fourth place finish in the second World Superbike Championship race was the best that he could manage after a day where the Ducati couldn't come close to replicating its dominant performance in qualifying.
Checa had started both races from his first pole position of the season after a peerless performance in Superpole, but laboured getaways left him embroiled in the middle of the lead group for the opening laps.
As it happens, Checa's first race would last less than three laps after making contact with former team-mate Jonathan Rea on the entry to the final corner.
Claiming the Honda rider didn't leave him enough room as they leant into the corner, the impact meant Checa's Althea Racing team was forced to build his rolling chassis for use in race two.

Reigning champion Carlos Checa claims his first World Superbike pole position of the season at the Moscow Raceway, ahead of Tom Sykes, Eugene Laverty and Leon Haslam.
Reigning World Superbike Champion Carlos Checa will start from pole position for the first time this season after dominating the opposition during qualifying at the brand-new Moscow Raceway.
The Spaniard has been in excellent form since arriving in Russia for the first time, but having faced stiff competition from his Althea Ducati team-mate Davide Giugliano in the run up to Superpole, the fight for pole position remained fairly open.
However, it was Checa that would prevail as he pumped in a superb lap of 1min 34.193secs, which would prove more than four tenths faster than any other rider.

Carlos Checa hopes a lack of top-end speed will not prevent him making the most of his Althea Ducati's pace as the Superbike World Championship pays a visit to Moscow.
The new Moscow Raceway only staged its first international event last month, and it now plays host to the world's premier production-based motorcycle championship.
With the track being an unknown to the teams and riders, testing was conducted on Wednesday on the tight and twisting circuit, which was still very dusty in places.
It was Checa who set the fastest time and the 2011 world champion requires some strong results to haul him back into contention to defend his crown.
The Spaniard is fourth in the standings, 53.5 points adrift of Aprilia's Max Biaggi with just four rounds remaining, with the BMW of Marco Melandri and Kawasaki of Tom Sykes lying between them.
