Ducati's new Multistrada 1200S was already a brilliant all-rounder. For 2015 it gets a new chassis, new styling and a new 160bhp 1200 engine. It's simply stunning to ride. We rode it at the world press launch in Lanzarote. Here's our full test.

They say: “The essential Monster”
We say: “Who needs 1,200cc?”
The mighty Monster is evolving. Earlier this year we pitted the new Monster 1200 against a bright crop of new-for-2014 naked bikes for our July cover story, and it acted more refined and mature than ever. A standard liquid-cooled engine, along with a longer wheelbase and more room for a passenger highlighted the flagship Monster's lean toward sensibility.

Can America's new superbike go head to head with Europe's finest?
Beautiful late-afternoon desert sun made everything glow as if the light were coming from within all the objects in view. Even the weeds looked good.
But we are convinced the Erik Buell Racing 1190RX and Ducati 1199 Panigale do actually produce their own light—and not just from bulbs and LEDs.
A long day spent riding two world-class superbikes on the amazing 1.8-mile East Loop at Pahrump, Nevada’s Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, will have that effect on you.

A strong contingent of five top Superbike teams lined up in fair weather conditions on the first day of a planned three-day test at Jerez. Marco Melandri set the early test pace, but at the end the Ducati duo of Davide Giugliano and Chaz Davies led them home, each setting impressive times on race tyres. Giugliano was well under the lap record, with his 1’41.056 best lap fully 0.4 seconds better than even his team-mate Davies.

Former MotoGP world champion Nicky Hayden will test a Panigale Superbike tomorrow at Mugello.
Hayden is known to have multiple choices for his riding services in 2014, with major offers from Ducati WSBK, Aprilia and LCR Honda. It's unclear if the Aprilia offer for Hayden is for MotoGP or WSBK.
Here's an idea - offer Nick Hayden a handful of wildcard rides, say the US rounds, and a couple others to seal the deal. Just saying...

Apart from a brief morning rain shower today, the test was marked by good weather, enabling the riders to focus their work, which consisted mainly of carrying out frame comparisons. They also tried some engine developments and looked for a base setup for the Grand Prix of San Marino and the Rimini Riviera, which will take place at this track in September.
Andrea Dovizioso - Ducati Team (105 laps)
“The Misano track is a bit inconsistent for our bike, but coming from Assen, we immediately felt a bit better at this circuit. We worked on the current bike, finding a setup for the Misano race, and then we went ahead with the development of the laboratory bike, trying some new stuff and finding some interesting things. We were able to do nearly two full days of good work, and today we tried a change with the frame. There were some positives, like an improvement with the feeling on corner entry. We must decide what to do; it’s a new part, so we have to understand whether or not we can have it in time for the Sachsenring.”
Nicky Hayden - Ducati Team (158 laps)
“It’s certainly been a useful couple of days. We didn’t make any drastic improvements, but I tried something with a different anti-wheelie solution that worked quite well, and I’m happy about that for the next two tracks, which are maybe the worst two circuits for wheelies on the whole calendar. We lost a bit of time today with the rain, but in the end I did a low 1:34. That’s not a bad lap time, although we’ll certainly have to do better than that when we come here for the race. We did a lot of laps, mainly with the wheelie control and a different fork setting, and we got some good information.”

"Tomorrow we have to decide which bike we will continue the season with" - Andrea Dovizioso.
Starting from a 2013 best of fifth on the grid, Nicky Hayden couldn't hide his disappointment at crashing out early in Sunday's race.
Hayden lost the front of his Ducati, like many others, as he turned into the left hander at the end of the back straight, on lap 6 of 25.
The 2006 world champion had just retaken fifth from Stefan Bradl, after dropping back to eighth on lap one.

Max Biaggi’s brief return to MotoGP is over. After two days of testing Ducati’s MotoGP bike at Mugello, filling in for the injured Ben Spies, Biaggi returns to his day job, as TV commentator for the Italian coverage of World Superbikes. Two short days were not really enough time for Biaggi to get back to grips with a MotoGP bike, especially given that testing stopped early on both days after rain started to fall in the afternoon. Biaggi faced two problems, returning to riding at speed for the first time in eight months, and returning to a MotoGP bike for the first time in over seven years.

Max Biaggi is back on a MotoGP machine, for the first time since he lost his ride at the end of the 2005 season. The reigning World Superbike champion took to the track at Mugello today to test Ben Spies’ Pramac Ducati, and get a feel for a MotoGP machine again.
Biaggi was invited to ride the bike by Ducati, mainly just as a friendly gesture towards an old rider, but in part also to give his input on riding the bike. With Spies still absent recovering from his shoulder injury, putting Biaggi on the bike was an interesting prospect. Because of Biaggi’s Italian connections, he rode Spies bike, but with bodywork from Iannone’s Energy.TI machine.
In a series of posts on his Twitter feed, Biaggi took some time getting up to speed on the machine. An enormous amount has changed since Biaggi last rode a V5 990cc Honda RC211V back in 2005, all of which take a lot of getting used to. The spec Bridgestone tires and the amount of electronic rider aids are two of the biggest changes, though the electronics on the factory Aprilia RSV4 WSBK machine are already highly sophisticated...

According to GPOne.com the official press release is coming tomorrow…
Details are sparse but for a number of reasons including Biaggi’s lack of experience with the tires the test is merely for feedback in the quest to better the machine and has no possibility of a future program attached. It further suggests not to load the test with too many expectations.
