Desmo Veloce (www.desmoveloce.com) is proud to announce plans for the 2013 AMA Pro GoPro Daytona Sportbike Championship Series that will commence at the Daytona Beach International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, on March 14-16, 2013. Desmo Veloce, located in Phoenix, AZ, is a newly formed performance shop owned and operated by longtime AMA Ducati superbike technician Richard Boyd. The shop specializes in Ducati performance, as well as track day and full race bike preparation.
Desmo Veloce will be fielding Garrett Willis in the 2013 AMA Pro GoPro Daytona Sportbike Championship. However, an unfortunate testing accident last weekend at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway left Garrett injured and unable to ride in Daytona.

Here’s what we have so far. Desmo Veloce, located in Phoenix, AZ, is a newly formed performance shop specializing in Ducati performance. It’s owned and operated by longtime AMA Ducati technician Richard Boyd. Richard signed Garrett Willis to ride a Ducati for the 2013 season but last weekend while testing at Chuckwalla, Willis was injured and Desmo Veloce did not have a rider for the Daytona 200. Lucky for Richard, he worked with the 2006 Daytona 200 winner Jake Zemke last year on the Ducshop team and the call was made. Our sources tell us that Zemke who finished 6th last year and 3rd the year before in the 200 has agreed to fill in for Willis and race the Daytona 200. Jake has set pole in the past and you better believe that he’s going to be a contender.
Great news, better late than never!

Ducati.net recently sat down at with Jake Zemke, rider of the Ducshop Racing 848 EVO. With similar backgrounds and friendships going back years, we couldn’t help but notice the divergence the careers of ex-Honda factory riders, Zemke and Hayden have taken, yet here they are, after all the years, racing again with the same manufacturer (Ducati), something that we’d be willing to bet neither saw coming as a career path. And that is where the similarities stop.

We need your help! Please support Jake Zemke and the Ducshop Racing crew in their attempt to put the Ducati 848 EVO on the podium. As the last few rounds results have shown, we are very close to reaching this goal.

A very well known and experienced AMA Pro rider, Ducshop Racing's Jake Zemke tells us about his racing roots, Ducshop's big effort in AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike and the rider talent he sees in the series..
AMAP: Where are you from?
JZ: I’m from Paso Robles, California. I’ve lived there since 1984. Family is pretty much the reason we ended up here. My mom’s parents live in San Luis Obispo right down the road.. and that’s kind of how we ended where we’re at.
AMAP: California is a very motorcycle oriented state. Is there an area that you like to go riding at in particular?
JZ: For sure. In winter time, the favorite spot to go riding was Clear Creek. Unfortunately, it’s been closed for a couple years now. They’re working to get it reopened, but at the moment, it’s closed. It’s always been a really fun place for us to go riding in the winter time. It’s a challenging area where they used to have an AMA National Enduro there. Many great riders from the past like Ricky Graham and Doug Chandler would go riding there. When some of the guys lived a little north of me, it became a convenient spot for us all to meet up and ride. Another great place I like to go riding is Zaca Station, which is south of me. It’s an awesome facility for outdoor motocross.
AMAP: How did you get into riding motorcycles?
JZ: When I was born, my dad had just started racing amateur flat track. I was born in San Francisco, and he was racing flat track in Northern California, so I basically grew up being around motorcycles and the racetrack. After that, we moved to Michigan, and that’s when I got my first motorcycle. My dad was still racing at that point, so by default, I ended up at the racetrack with the motorcycle.. .and the rest is history....More here
