Team SBK Ducati Alstare has announced that further complications from the serious crash Carlos Checa suffered last weekend in Turkey have revealed a pelvis fracture at the femoral head, an injury that requires surgery and a minimum 10 week recovery time. This effectively removes him from participating in the remaining three rounds.

American Ben Spies has not raced in the last three MotoGP events this season due to chest muscle problems and shoulder weakness caused by reconstructive shoulder surgery last October.
The news might get worse for Elbowz: He may miss the next four races, too. Spies may not return to his Pramac Ducati until the Red Bull Indianapolis GP on Aug. 16-18.

Ben Spies has withdrawn from the Mugello MotoGP weekend as his persistent shoulder problems proved too severe in practice.

Still suffering from a problematic shoulder injury, American Ben Spies is contemplating additional time on the shelf to complete the healing process.

Andrea Dovizioso was highly aggravated to have injured his neck in a fall during the opening practice session for his home Grand Prix. The Ducati Team rider was left in substantial pain, particularly on straight sections of track.

Look down the MotoGP grid and you'll see two kinds of riders: those that have endured shoulder injuries and those that probably will at some point in their career. A quick off the top of the head list of past and present riders who have suffered a shoulder injury include Dani Pedrosa, Nick Hayden, Valentino Rossi, Andrea Dovizioso, Cal Crutchlow, Marco Melandri, Neil Hodgson, Eddie Lawson, Kevin Schwantz, Troy Bayliss, Sete Gibernau, Casey Stoner, Carl Fogarty, Colin Edwards, Nori Haga and Kenny Roberts Jr.
Four-time world champion Lawson raced for the world championship trying his best to avoid sneezing or coughing as each time he did so he risked popping his shoulder due to a damaged rotator cuff.

Just four rounds into the 18-race 2013 MotoGP World Championship, Ducati factory rider Nicky Hayden is already talking about having surgery at the end of the season to remove a screw from his right wrist.
Hayden has complained about pain in that joint for some time. After the Spanish GP in Jerez, the 31-year-old Kentuckian posted a photo on his Twitter feed showing both arms side-by-side. The right arm was visibly misshapen....
