Many ladies attended the Bonneville Motorcycle Speed trials this year, including landspeed record holder Valerie Thompson, Loretta Flores, and so many more!
Photographer and motorcyclist Barbara Fuentes guest posts about her trip from Seattle, Washington to Wendover, Utah for the Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials in September. “It started 100 years ago. Folks started trekking to Bonneville, Utah with their cars and motorcycles to go fast; record-breaking fast. Formally known as BUB, the Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials is the premier motorcycle land speed racing event. Sanctioned by the AMA and FIM, this event gives you the opportunity to make National and World records. Several classes are available for entry- from small vintage bikes on up to streamliners. On Friday Aug. 22nd, I packed up my SUV and made my way down to Utah. The ride was pretty uneventful, save my car karaoke. I decided to go out to the Flats on Saturday morning. When I arrived, I came to the ‘boat launch,’ the tiny bit of land between the road and what looks like an expansive lake. Not deep, about 6 inches or so- but seemed to go on forever.

Great look at a world that few people that have not done it, really understand the complexity of. Worth a read.

"Out of Nothing," a documentary in the works about motorcycle land speed racing, features a heavy dose of Whatcom County, both on the screen and behind the cameras.
So it's fitting that one the county's most recognizable residents, comedian Ryan Stiles, is the face of an online appeal for donations to help finance the film's finishing touches.
Stiles, one of the documentary's producers, became involved with the project at the urging of fellow producer Andrew Lahmann of Bellingham, who had worked with Stiles on a pilot TV show

If you are an avid motorcycle enthusiast, then you will no doubt recognize, “The Da Vinci Racer,” motorcycle that we are listing for sale in our No Reserve Auction today. On August 28th, 2012, this motorcycle broke the 1000a-ag speed record at the, “Bonneville Salt Flats” by over 16 mph.“Leonardo Da Vinci” ……a man with unquenchable curiosity and a feverishly inventive personality is widely considered to be the most diversely talented person to ever have lived.
Carl and Mark from, “Super-Rat Motorcycles”, located in Bellingham, WA, worked tirelessly on, “The Da Vinci Racer” to create a work or art worthy of its namesake.
While this motorcycle may bear a resemblance to its Ducati relatives, I can assure that virtually every component on this bike is either highly modified or hand made.
If either Leonardo or the Ducati Factory were to try and build a competitive, “Land Speed Racer”, they would have a hard time competing with the one that Super-Rat has already assembled.

As a guy I always had a strong taste for motorcycles, although I have never rode once as advanced as this brand new Ducati I can give it the admiration it deserves. Congratulations to Bill Whisenant for building North America's fastest ducati, Typically Ducati has always been viewed as the staple of high quality motorcycles, in fact if i were to ever own a motorcycle my first choice would be a Ducati. Considering the speed and capabilities of the Ducati 999 its easy to tell one would have to be extremely skilled to drive one of these hellcats. From speed to performance to skillful engineering, just taking a look at this one would give it the appreciation it deserves.
