Andrea Iannone says he is relishing the challenge of trying to seize the number one spot at Ducati from fellow Italian Andrea Dovizioso in 2015.
Iannone will join his compatriot in Ducati’s official factory squad next season after Cal Crutchlow switched to LCR Honda.
Briton Crutchlow initially pledged to honour the second year of his Desmosedici deal before landing a golden chance to replacing Stefan Bradl on a factory RC213V.

MotoGP™ Q2 was another frantic sprint for pole at the Motul Grand Prix of Japan, with the honours taken by Andrea Dovizioso - as Valentino Rossi and Dani Pedrosa also slotted onto the front row – despite a late crash for Pedrosa.
Congrats to the Ducati Team for a great result!
The Ducati Team is gearing up to tackle this weekend’s Motul Grand Prix of Japan, round 15 of the 2014 MotoGP™ World Championship and the first leg in a tough triple-header, which will continue with two more rounds in Australia and Malaysia over the following two weekends.
With Marc Marquez back to winning ways at Silverstone, the Misano round of MotoGP (or to give it its full name, the Gran Premio di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini) is the next venue to host the Marquez MotoGP record demolition steamroller. At Misano, Marquez can equal Mick Doohan's record of twelve wins in a single season, clearing the way for him to break that record at a following round.
What are the odds of him actually achieving that? Misano is a circuit where he has had a great deal of success, having won in 125s and both the Moto2 races he contested here. A mistake during last year's MotoGP race meant he lost ground on the leaders, though he recovered to finish in fourth. Going by his past record, Marquez is once again favorite to win.

The jumpsuit worn by Andrea Dovizioso for the Indianapolis MotoGP on Augyst 10th 2014, autographed by Andrea himself and Valentino Rossi!
About the suit:
During the first laps of the race there was a jostle between Andrea Dovizioso and Valentino Rossi, because he surpassed Andrea a little too aggressively, and the wheel of the bike left a mark on the jumpsuit! Valentino immediately apologized and Andrea passed it off as a simple moment of contact during the race.
His statements following the heated race
“I can’t complain about the first fifteen laps” says the Forli racer “the first six were even exciting I was in front of Vale at some points, although I think that he wasn’t pushing his limits at that time, but I couldn’t overtake him because if I did we would’ve touched, however the Yamaha is able complete better curves. We would’ve touched. No, more like: I would’ve been in him”.
He did it in his place…
"Yes, first I felt a hit on my left knee, then the pressure continued on my thigh, until the point where the wheel reached my shoulder. You can say I kept him on the track, but I don’t want polemics: it was a simple contact during the race. I haven’t spoken to Valentino yet, but Ive been told he apologized on TV”.
Your chance to own "the" suit with Rossi's tire track on it. What a great conversation piece for a great cause.
Going as fast as possible on cold tyres, cold brakes and with unknown grip levels makes the opening lap of a MotoGP race especially intense....
So who does it best?
