Carlos Checa has given the brand-new Ducati 1199R a perfect qualifying debut by claiming pole position for the opening round of the 2013 World Superbike Championship at Phillip Island.
A tenth career pole position for the man that has won four of the last five WSBK races to be held at the Australian venue, Checa would save his best until last as he swept to the top of the standings with his final lap...

Team SBK Ducati Alstare faced various challenges in today’s opening sessions of the 2013 World Superbike Championship at Phillip Island. Although conditions at the Australian track were almost perfect during today’s free practice and first qualifying sessions, with sunshine and very little wind, both Carlos Checa and Ayrton Badovini suffered crashes during the practice which made afternoon qualifying all the more difficult for the pair.

Carlos Checa back on his feet after last week’s setback, the Spanish rider and Team SBK Ducati Alstare was able to make full use of two official test days at the Phillip Island circuit, scoring some very encouraging results in the process.
What a difference a day makes. Pretty big turn around. We're impressed

The last test before boarding the Ducati Panigale on the flight to Australia is going up in smoke but what counts is to be there again. The Batta and Alstare have returned. To win.

World Superbike comeback delights Alstare Racing's Francis Batta, as former WSBK champions front factory Ducati effort...
Alstare owner Francis Batta has spoken of his hunger to reignite the glory days in the World Superbike Championship in 2013.
Alstare has taken over Ducati's factory team for next season and 2014 – 15 years after both organisations last collaborated.
The Belgian outfit took a sabbatical this year after ending its long-standing relationship with Suzuki at the end of 2011, but makes a welcome return with Carlos Checa and former Superstock 1000 champion Ayrton Badovini on the new 1199 Panigale machines.

Badovini excited about new Alstare Ducati venture...
After three years with BMW Italia, Ayrton Badovini is gearing up for a radical change next year when he will race for the Alstare Ducati team in the 2013 eni FIM Superbike World Championship. The Italian will soon be able to get his hands on the new Ducati 1199 Panigale that will take part in the Superbike category after a difficult first season in the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup, which Badovini himself won in 2010....

It 'lasted a year, the remoteness of Francis Batta Superbike. In 2013, except for last minute surprises, the manager of the Belgian and Ducati will sign an agreement that binds them for next season.
Will be an official team to all effects (which might be called again Ducati-Alstare as in the past) and the structure of the team is ready to 90%.
