With the first full test for the World Superbike class behind us, and the first test of the MotoGP grid about to get underway at Sepang at the end of this week, it is time to take a look at motorcycle racing’s pre-season, and evaluate where we stand so far. Just what is the state of play for both MotoGP and World Superbike in 2013?
Lots of good stuff here, particulary in the section devoted to Ducati down in the lower half of the article. As always David Emmett delivers an interesting read...

For an American, Ben Spies really loves Italy. He raced in, and won, the 2009 WSBK championship with an Italian team, and resides for most of the year in Como. So what better place could there be to get his career back on track than Ducati?

We really love this interview for a lot of reasons - it's important to love Italy if you race for Ducati (yea, yea, it's a German company now, but it's soul remains Italian) And he's taking the man up approach to a number of things. Ben Spies didn't just wash up on Ducati's beach. Worth a read.

Ducati's new MotoGP boss Bernhard Gobmeier says he will build on the team's existing strengths rather than making a complete fresh start.
Gobmeier supplanted Filippo Preziosi at the end of last season as Ducati reshuffled its staff following its acquisition by Audi and its lack of success with Valentino Rossi.
"We will try to base everything on the good things we have - which have to be kept and remain," Gobmeier said at the Wrooom media event, attended by AUTOSPORT....

UPDATE: Nope, according to Italian TV’s Gudio Meda, it is a model built from leftover parts of the GP3 & GP7. For those picking out those design elements, good eye!
While the official launch of the Ducati Desmosedici GP13 is supposed to be tomorrow, the folks atGPinside have seemingly snagged this photo of the GP13 at the 2013 Wrooom event that Ducati co-hosts with Scuderia Ferrari. While the livery appears relative unchanged, there are several noticeable changes to the Desmosedici GP13, namely the skinnier tail section.
Our eyes also spot changes to the exhaust system, with a much shorter side-pipe, and what appears to be a larger undertail cannister. The fairings have also been refined from their previous shape, and give away a figure that’s longer than the GP12 (shown after the jump), with noticeably fewer side vents...
Whatever it is, it's closer to the 1199 Panigale they showed last year. Wrooom roll outs are a tough tradition to uphold, when the bike and team are in steep transition with a test looming....

Ducati Team to join Scuderia Ferrari for the traditional F1 and MotoGP Press Ski Meeting Riders from Ducati factory-supported Team Pramac also guests at Wrooom
We look forward to Wrooom (pronounced Vroom) because it traditionally includes the unveiling of the team's new look and colors as well as the media's chance to speak to the riders now all officially under contract to Ducati (most contracts end on Dec.31 and preclude the riders from commenting on anything relating to "next years job" if it's with a different manufacturer)

Our first year of Ductalk.com has now come to an end and in reflection, I don’t remember a year when there was more to write about in the Ducati world and that’s coming from somebody that bought her first Ducati 23 years ago. In that regard, our timing to start Ductalk was lucky, because few days came and went without something worthy of mention. Bombshell announcements (Stoner retires! Rossi leaves! Ducati sold! Justin Bieber buys an 848!) were the monthly norm. And the images? Well, I doubt there will ever be another rider and bike combination more beautiful at rest or speed than the spectacular colors in combination of Ducati, Rossi and Drudi....

“I'm curious for Tuesday's test. However my feet are on the ground and the situation is that we will have to work on the bike” – Andrea Dovizioso.
Andrea Dovizioso will make his Ducati debut during next week's post-race Valencia MotoGP test and the former 125cc world champion is eager to get his first impressions of his new bike.
The Italian spoke with the media this afternoon about his upcoming switch from Tech 3 Yamaha to the factory Ducati squad and, while he is clearly excited about the opportunity to race for the Bologna manufacturer, he is also realistic of the task ahead.
