Ulrich's Pro-Am Motorcycle "Triple Crown" Event Is a Go

Ulrich's Pro-Am Motorcycle "Triple Crown" Event Is a Go | Desmopro News | Scoop.it
In January, Roadracing World Editor-in-Chief John Ulrich penned an editorial where he outlined his desire to create a three-event road racing series that would take place between the six-week time

period of AMA Pro Road Racing’s first and second rounds. This “triple crown” event would be help bolster the current five — hopefully to be announced six — events on the AMA Pro Road Racing calendar, which in-turn would help AMA Pro Racing teams and riders meet their obligations with their sponsors.

While not Ducati specific, this has the potential to attract some Ducati entries...

The Other Racing Face Of Ducati In America – Jake Zemke | Ducati.net

The Other Racing Face Of Ducati In America – Jake Zemke | Ducati.net | Desmopro News | Scoop.it

Ducati.net recently sat down at with Jake Zemke, rider of the Ducshop Racing 848 EVO. With similar backgrounds and friendships going back years, we couldn’t help but notice the divergence the careers of ex-Honda factory riders, Zemke and Hayden have taken, yet here they are, after all the years, racing again with the same manufacturer (Ducati), something that we’d be willing to bet neither saw coming as a career path. And that is where the similarities stop.

Rider Spotlight: Jake Zemke | amaproracing.com | Desmopro News | Scoop.it
A very well known and experienced AMA Pro rider, Ducshop Racing's Jake Zemke tells us about his racing roots, Ducshop's big effort in AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike and the rider talent he sees in the series..

AMAP: Where are you from?
JZ: I’m from Paso Robles, California. I’ve lived there since 1984. Family is pretty much the reason we ended up here. My mom’s parents live in San Luis Obispo right down the road.. and that’s kind of how we ended where we’re at.
AMAP: California is a very motorcycle oriented state. Is there an area that you like to go riding at in particular?
JZ: For sure. In winter time, the favorite spot to go riding was Clear Creek. Unfortunately, it’s been closed for a couple years now. They’re working to get it reopened, but at the moment, it’s closed. It’s always been a really fun place for us to go riding in the winter time. It’s a challenging area where they used to have an AMA National Enduro there. Many great riders from the past like Ricky Graham and Doug Chandler would go riding there. When some of the guys lived a little north of me, it became a convenient spot for us all to meet up and ride. Another great place I like to go riding is Zaca Station, which is south of me. It’s an awesome facility for outdoor motocross.
AMAP: How did you get into riding motorcycles?
JZ: When I was born, my dad had just started racing amateur flat track. I was born in San Francisco, and he was racing flat track in Northern California, so I basically grew up being around motorcycles and the racetrack. After that, we moved to Michigan, and that’s when I got my first motorcycle. My dad was still racing at that point, so by default, I ended up at the racetrack with the motorcycle.. .and the rest is history....More here

When Ducati SBK came to AMA: VIR Superbike 2004 | Vicki's View Blog on Ducati.net

When Ducati SBK came to AMA: VIR Superbike 2004 | Vicki's View Blog on Ducati.net | Desmopro News | Scoop.it

Throwback Thursday, Vicki’s View of one of the most unexpected Ducati/AMA weekends ever

This weekend Michele Pirro will compete in the Mugello MotoGP on the “Lab” bike, (seemingly entered for the purposes of gathering data during the race weekend) and Ben Spies will return to competition while still mending from a shoulder injury. It reminded me of a similar situation almost 10 years ago.

It’s been so long since Ducati has had a supported AMA team that some people might not know that for quite a few years, on most AMA weekends Paolo Ciabatti and Davide Tardozi made the 10 hour trip as part of a variety of AMA team efforts over the years, splitting their time and efforts between the SBK team and the AMA one....

Mixed results, injured riders. MugelloGP? LeMans SBK?  Nope. AMA VIR 2004. A tale of Ducati history repeating itself.

Spent the day at Road Atlanta.  We haven't been to an AMA race in a while and this one was delivering a lot for the entertainment dollar.  In the Atlanta area?  Not to late to check out the action. It's a pretty great way to spend the day.....
