Here we are, underway for the 2012 MotoGP season. Hello everyone from Qatar where there’s great anticipation for the start of the new season and a new 1000cc era.
It’s been a long winter, with a lot of speculation about the new rules and the new CRT (Claiming Rules Team) bikes and what that format is going to bring to the racing.
Going back as far as last year’s season ending test in Valencia, we got a glimpse of what to expect coming into this season with Honda and Yamaha both looking strong. In fact, Yamaha looked to have made progress consistently through the winter and the pre-season tests in Malaysia and Jerez have seen both Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies looking strong and happy with the early set-up on the new M1. Jorge, especially, has been very upbeat and when Jorge is happy you feel he has the potential to be dangerous.
Backing them up, the pace shown by Cal Crutchlow and Andrea Dovizioso, on the Tech 3 Yamaha’s has also been impressive and indicates some real strength in the package...more here: http://www.alpinestars.com/randy-mamola/news/2012/04/06/randy-mamola-column-127/
