Chaz Davies has hailed his double victory at Magny Cours as one of the ‘most important weekends’ of his career given the varying circumstances in which he took victory.
The Aruba Ducati man took the spoils after a decision to run intermediate tyres on the grid for Saturday’s wet but drying opening race saw him take a commanding victory as most of his rivals pitted to change tyres.
The Welshman would then go on to double up in Sunday’s race after taking advantage of a battle between Kawasaki duo Tom Sykes and Jonathan Rea.
While Davies has won three out of the last four races, his championship fight is all but over as he sits some 81 points behind series leader Rea. However, the battle is still on for second place with Sykes now just 33 points ahead.
