A field of 18 rare and significant Ducati’s will appear at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance on March 10, 2013, led by the seminal “Cucciolo” that, in 1946, began Ducati’s rise to the pinnacle of motorcycle excellence and success. Ducati is the fourth motorcycle marque to be honored by “The Amelia” with a one class display on the concours field of The Golf Club at Summer Beach.

First L.A. Times Ride: 2013 Ducati Hypermotard SP

First L.A. Times Ride: 2013 Ducati Hypermotard SP | Ductalk | Scoop.it

Ducati has built and brought to market another extremely successful piece of engineering with the new Hypermotard SP.

Beautiful to look at and exhilarating to ride, the dramatically updated 2013 model of the Italian company's supermoto bike is fast and fierce, and equal parts demanding and rewarding.

It's basically a race bike, which means it's not a cozy mount for a cruise up the coast. The ready-for-the-track set-up means stiff suspension, an unforgiving seat, increased seat height, plenty of engine heat and a muffler growl that will wake the neighbors.

In other words, it's awesome. I enjoyed my first hour on this bike as much as I've enjoyed any ride this year.

Living with a Ducati 1199 Panigale S | visordown.com | Ductalk | Scoop.it

It absolutely ruled on the billiard table-smooth Yas Marina circuit on its launch but what's it like to live with day to day, on UK roads? Greasy, leaf-covered UK roads.

My neighbours could be forgiven for thinking there's a tank at the end of the road, shelling the house next door, but no, it's just me firing up Ducati's incredible-sounding 1199 Panigale S.

It's a Ducati superbike so of course it's noisy and blatanly fast but, like all the best Ducatis; it's an event.

2013 Ducati Multistrada 1200 S First Ride | motorcycle-usa.com

2013 Ducati Multistrada 1200 S First Ride | motorcycle-usa.com | Ductalk | Scoop.it
For 2013 Ducati has revised the Multistradas engine and suspension. MotoUSA traveled to Bilbao Spain to test the Multistrada 1200 S Touring in Basque Country.

The Ducati Mutistrada is a difficult bike to categorize. Pitched as an Adventure Tourer, it has all the requisite parts and pieces to fit the bill, but there is no denying it’s so much more (and less). For 2013 the Bologna-based company blurs the lines even further with a selection of four refined models in the Multistrada line. There is the base Multistrada 1200 that most closely resembles the 2012 model, the Multistrada S Pikes Peak replica racer, the Multistrada 1200 S Touring and the fully loaded Multistrada 1200 S Granturismo. All are built on the same basic architecture, and priced from $16,995 all the way up to $21,995; there is something for every adventure seeking Ducatisti.

Ducati Streetfighter packs a big punch | theprovince.com

Before commencing a fight in martial arts, opponents bow to each other. It's regarded as a sign of mutual respect. It can also be regarded as a sign of humility and to express a lack of arrogance.

I bow to the 2012 Ducati Street-fighter 848 for all of the aforementioned reasons.

Ducati 848 EVO Final Test Versus Triumph 675 - Part 3 | Neale Bayly | SpeedTV.com | Ductalk | Scoop.it
With Fast Frank blasting the 999 out of turn 12 with the rear squirming as the Ducati hammered its horsepower to the ground, the 999’s rear end filling my view slid violently sideways.

Fast Frank Shockley, Julian Taylor from All About Bikes, a Sportbike Track Time weekend, and the two hottest Euro middleweights on the planet wearing brand-new Bridgestone racing slicks. Add in a race-prepped Ducati 999 for on-board camera duties by my film crew from Speed.com and rolling south to Carolina Motorsports Park in South Carolina at the end of last year a mad weekend was clearly in the works.

With Fast Frank blasting the 999 out of turn 12 with the rear squirming as the Ducati hammered its horsepower to the ground, the 999’s rear end filling my view slid violently sideways. The flash of white in front of the Ducati told me Fast Frank was inches from the back of Julian’s rear wheel, and as the wily old fox took a short flight out of the seat, he quickly feathered the throttle and got both wheels back in line. I let go of the breath I was holding and stayed hard on the gas barreling into turn 14. Using the Ducati 848 EVO’s superior brakes, I slid by Frank and slipped in behind Julian, as the Triumph Daytona 675R he was riding scythed through the turn and started the run down to turn one.

Living with the Ducati Panigale | Telegraph

Living with the Ducati Panigale | Telegraph | Ductalk | Scoop.it
What's it like to live with Ducati's latest road rocket, the Panigale, for a week's ordinary use?

We British are a funny lot when it comes to buying motorcycles. We'll love a new sports bike for lapping a foreign racetrack faster than its rivals, in the hands of someone we've never met, then buy it in order to whizz about as best we can on British roads.
There's nothing wrong with that if it gives us pleasure, and bikes do just that through their image, looks, sound and brand values as well as the how they feel and perform (while the ace in the pack is that even the most ordinary motorcycle is still a motorcycle and, by default, enjoyable).
However, with Ducati's Panigale superbike performing as well in showrooms as it has done in track tests, there's plenty of interest in how it copes with a trip to the supermarket, heavy traffic, a weekend away or carrying a passenger. So I borrowed one to subject it to a week of intense ordinariness.

Review: 2012 Ducati Diavel Cromo | craveonline.com

Review: 2012 Ducati Diavel Cromo | craveonline.com | Ductalk | Scoop.it

If you can’t ride a motor, it’s difficult to describe the sensation of riding the 2012 Ducati Diavel Cromo. Still, that’s my job, so I’ll give it a try.

If you’ve never sat astride any crotch rocket – especially a seasoned Italian dish like the Cromo – imagine riding a horse that will run you through the sidewall of a barn if you spur it too hard. Imagine taking a bicycle down a ski jump. Imagine rollerblades – rocket-packed like the model Wile E. Coyote orders from Acme.

And then imagine any of those created with enough engineering and technology to make such speed not only safe, but entirely manageable and enjoyable by the rider.

There. That should do it.

"If you're a car person and think you can't comprehend why an average Joe would put this kind of money into a motorcycle, consider the possibility of purchasing a street-legal F1 car for double the price of a Porsche 911."

Surviving long-term motorcycle riding requires a healthy dose of fear and the heightened awareness that accompanies it. Nothing suffers fools quite as ruthlessly as two-wheeled transport, an axiom that has been relentlessly reinforced by YouTube. The exposure of riding is bound to catch up with thrill-seekers hungry for speed, knee dragging, and all the potential disaster that comes with tapping into a sportbike's vast reserves of performance....

Two-wheel Lowdown: 2012 Ducati 1199 Panigale S | Autoweek.com | Ductalk | Scoop.it

Depending on who you talk to, a Ferrari F1 car produces north of 700 hp and weighs 1,411 pounds for a 2:1 or better power-to-weight ratio. By contrast, the Ducati 1199 Panigale S delivers 195 hp and weighs 415 pounds for a comparable 2.1:1 ratio. So, if you want to argue that Ducati's all-new flagship delivers F1 performance for the street, you'd be right.

Ducati Streetfighter 848- Middleweight Motorcycles | Cycle World

Ducati Streetfighter 848- Middleweight Motorcycles | Cycle World | Ductalk | Scoop.it

Fighter? Really, it’s more of a Streetlover.

Need to inspect your front tire? Just lean forward half an inch and look down over the Streetfighter’s little instrument panel. Thar she blows. Looks fine. The Triumph Street Triple R may be 2.4 inches shorter of wheelbase and 23 pounds lighter, but I think I feel even more forward, perched atop and in control of the Streetfighter.
“Street-going dirtbike” is the cliché, and in the SFighter’s case, it fits—except I can touch the ground. This one’s really skinny between the thighs in the way only a V-Twin or Single can be, and its instant thrust and Ducati bark reinforce the off-road motif. Then there’s the tapered aluminum handlebar. And though you don’t get the Öhlins suspension with this $6K-cheaper small Streetfighter, the 848’s Marzocchi/Sachs combo feels a tad softer and longer-travel than the $18,995 Streetfighter S model’s expensive stuff. For streetfighting with potholes, bumps and assorted detritus, this seems like a reasonably good compromise, though the S-bike provides superior wheel control when the mission switches to serious high-speed sporty riding.

Ducati Multistrada MTS1200 S Touring 'Skyhook' review - Telegraph

Ducati Multistrada MTS1200 S Touring 'Skyhook' review - Telegraph | Ductalk | Scoop.it
Ducati continues to improve the world’s most versatile bike, the Multistrada, with the arrival of Skyhook suspension.

After 18 months and 15,000 miles, we pronounced the 2010 Ducati Multistrada S Touring the most versatile motorcycle in the world. This was due to its blend of great handling with the punch of a superbike engine, more low-rev thrust than most tourers, superb comfort and even some off-road ability.
While we were reeling at how its electronic control system would modify the traction control, throttle response, peak horsepower and the suspension settings, Ducati was working on the next generation – and has moved the game on once more with its Skyhook semi-active suspension. This derives from the concept of the bike’s electronics trying to maintain a stable chassis in relation to an imaginary datum point in the sky above.

Talk about parting traffic. Wind the throttle open to release Armageddon, a rocking, rolling, mad, bad soundtrack that's part sex, pure muscle and sends cars diving for the verge in fright. Yet Diavel divided Ducati fans when it was first announced. A fat-tyred cruiser from a brand best known for sweet-handling sports bikes? Not since Porsche revealed an SUV have performance-focused petrolheads expressed such outrage.

Sport bike? Or cruiser? With Ducati’s new machine, you don’t have to choose...

Ducati, the Italian motorcycle icon has been turning out groundbreaking high performance, lust-worthy bikes for nearly three quarters of a century. In conceiving the Diavel, a completely new steed, for its lineup, Ducati engineers started with a blank sheet of paper and ended with a gorgeous, innovative, modern yet visceral motorbike that can play the demon or the pussycat depending on your predilection.

Engine: Ducati’s smoothest engine to date is a 1198cc Testastretta 11-degree power plant that doles out 162-horsepower so smoothly you’ll barely know you’re all those many mph over the speed limit.
