In Las Vegas, a gamble on BMW's Kompressor and McQueen's Husky - AutoWeek

In Las Vegas, a gamble on BMW's Kompressor and McQueen's Husky - AutoWeek | Ductalk | Scoop.it
The anonymous Japanese collector was upset. The rare BMW Kompressor Rennsport, the finest pre-/postwar machine that he had listed, wasn't going for what he wanted. Five hundred thousand dollars he wanted. Half a million bucks! And that wasn't even the value at which the motorcycle had been appraised. The catalog had said “…all the way up to $600,000.” For a motorcycle to go for six figures was stratospherically rare; the last motorcycle that had sold for that much was a 1929 Brough-Superior SS100, one of only 69 made, the Rolls-Royce of motorcycles, only better. It had gone for $456,799. He must have known that. Yet his face was downturned, a mixture of ambivalence and veiled disappointment. The bids on his beloved machine were now stuck at $380,000. He expected higher. He expected the full six hundred. It'd be foolish for him to want any less.Read more: http://www.autoweek.com/article/20130123/carnews01/130119933#ixzz2IuzdoGRW

We love motorcycle auctions for the drama and spectacle. Here's a link to LOTS of photos from the three Vegas auctions last spring. Many Ducati's, some will surprise you. http://tinyurl.com/aglgrqn

Iannone: "Ducati? Happiness and Responsibility" | motogp.com | Ductalk | Scoop.it
Andrea Iannone spoke to motogp.com for the first time since news broke that next year he would be sharing the box with Ben Spies in MotoGP with the Pramac Racing Team.

It had been in the air for some time: his first ever Ducati ride on a Pramac bkie in 2011, the Ducati Factory test this year - the relationship between Andrea Iannone and Ducati has been growing throughout 2012, until the announcement yesterday confirming that the Abruzzi rider will be the second Italian after Andrea Dovizioso to defend the Ducati colours in 2013, albeit with the satellite Pramac Racing Team.

Mugello test complete, Iannone bests Rossi's time

The Ducati test is over at Mugello, with better weather today than yesterday, Andrea Iannone turned 51 laps and Michele Pirro 65. Worth noting was Iannone's best time of 1.48:3, better than the recent qualifying time of Valentino Rossi, a 1.48.502, which placed Rossi 10th on the grid. Per GPOne.com, Iannone feels that while not official, his place on the team for 2013 is secure.

Ben Spies should be formalized before Misano with Ducati | gp-inside.com | Ductalk | Scoop.it

(translated from French via Google)

After being thanked for Yamaha to make room for Valentino Rossi, Ben Spies prepares to perform the reverse path of Dottore as it may affix his signature to a contract binding him to Pramac Ducati.

This is indeed what we reported Remy Tissier, the presenter of MotoGP on Eurosport.

" Ben Spies will ride in MotoGp next year, he will drive a third Pramac in Ducati colors and after the filter Bologna, it will probably be a motorcycle factory that will drive 100% American. We understand why Spies has not honored its pre-contract with BMW Italia WSBK.

Ben Spies could be a very good signing for the Italian factory as capable of results. The official announcement is expected to take place between 11 and 15 September "

With Iannone (today at Mugello read here) which has a pre-contract with Borgo Panigale, it seems that the stools of four GP13 are now occupied.

Stay tuned!
