Following the tire problems with the Bridgestone rears in Assen, their investigation turned up no obvious problems, other than overheating - Sport Rider Magazine... HOHENSTEIN, ERNSTTHAL, GERMANY, JULY 6 – What happened to the rear Bridgestone tires of Valentino Rossi and Ben Spies at last week's Dutch TT remains a mystery, despite an in-depth analysis by Bridgestone. Shinji Aoki, Bridgestone's manager of motorsport tire development, briefed the media on the progress of the investigation following the end of day rider briefings at the German Grand Prix. Most of the riders believed Bridgestone was being sincere when they said the tires weren't defective, but Repsol Honda’s Casey Stoner wasn't as forgiving.

The official tyre supplier to MotoGP™ will provide a new specification front compound, which will further enhance rider feel and warm-up performance. Bridgestone will introduce a new specification front tyre for the MotoGP™ World Championship, giving the 21 riders taking part in this year’s competition access to the very latest in tyre technology. This new front tyre is the latest evolution of the 2012 specification MotoGP™ front tyre, and features a revised construction that further enhances rider feel and warm-up performance and was developed following analysis of performance data and rider feedback acquired in pre-season testing. Due to the overwhelmingly positive appraisal this new front tyre received when tested by riders, Bridgestone, after consultation with Dorna, the FIM and IRTA, has agreed to replace the current front tyre with the new 2012 specification front tyre from the Silverstone round while also making a limited number of the new front tyre available for the Jerez, Estoril, Le Mans and Catalunya rounds. Starting from Jerez, riders will be allocated two of the new specification front tyres to increase their total allocation for the race weekend to 11 front tyres. The new specification tyre will only be made available in the harder compound option, as the greater durability this option provides makes it better suited for race use. At Silverstone, when the new specification front tyre becomes the standard, the front tyre allocation will return to nine tyres....more here: http://www.motogp.com/en/news/2012/Bridgestone+to+introduce+new+specification+front+tyre Delete the scoop?

During his stay in Malaysia, Capirossi took time-out to talk to www.bridgestonemotorsport.com about his new role with Dorna, rider reactions to Bridgestone's 2012 tyres, and his hopes for MotoGP in the future. Loris, how does it feel coming to the circuit but not being able to get out and cut some laps? "The good thing is that I decided by myself to retire, and for this I’m happy because during twenty-two seasons as a rider I always had what I wanted. One thing that is very different now that I’m Safety Advisor is that I think in these few days I’ve walked over one-hundred kilometres between the boxes to talk to the riders - this has been very strange!"..more Delete the scoop?

'It's a shame about today because I started quite well. I was there, having a good race, and I think I could have had a decent result' - Valentino Rossi Valentino Rossi's chances of a top six finish in today's Dutch TT at Assen were thwarted after the Italian superstar was forced to make a tyre change. Rossi had been battling for sixth position with his works Ducati team-mate Nicky Hayden, but had to return to his garage after developing a terminal issue with his rear Bridgestone. Other riders, including Yamaha's Ben Spies, also suffered major rear tyre issues - Spies saying that 'chunks' came out. The rest of this story HERE Delete the scoop?

(Scroll down on link for the Rossi Video) Japanese tyre behemoth Bridgestone has a new tyre out – the S20. The ‘S’ is for sport. I can’t recall a tyre launch in the last decade where the word ‘sporty’ wasn’t mentioned at least seven times. Under some circumstances (with the Metzeler Racetec or Pirelli Diablo Corsa), that’s hardly a surprise, but even on tyres with less track-biased aspirations, every manufacturer still wants a piece of the sports/sporty action. It’s not surprising. (Scroll down for Valentino Rossi video on the tyres. Funny guy...). That segment of the aftermarket tyre business which lies between super-stable, ultra-durable touring hoops for rolling gin palaces and pure track tyres with just enough tread on them to convince the Department for Transport that they’re worthy of road-going ‘DOT’ approval, is humungous. And Bridgestone is a huge player, claiming 30 per cent market share and leaving the other five or six players to hoover up the remainder....more Delete the scoop?
