The Althea Racing team publishes a commemorative book to celebrate the successes of the 2011 World Superbike Championship.
2011 proved to be a magical year for the Althea Racing team. Riding his Ducati 1198, Althea flagbearer Carlos Checa scored a double win at the opening round at Phillip Island, Australia and then went on to win an extremely impressive 15 of the season’s 26 races, clocking up a total of 21 podium finishes. Fueled embodies the author’s personal motorcycle road racing and wrenching experiences. The book, Milich’s second [after 2009’s Wrenched ( www.wrenchedbook.com)] is comprised of free verse and short stories about the passions and madness of racing: rusted motorcycles, crusted men, and how Milich won a race at Daytona on a $600 Moto Guzzi.

When Ducati decided to officially withdraw their factory effort in World Superbikes at the end of 2010, but continue to support private teams, there was some massive complaining from offended fans, who blamed Gabriele Del Torchio for re-routing the funds for the team to hire an expensive Valentino Rossi (we know how that’s working out) in MotoGP, but by the end of the 2011 season all the mumblings were swept away as Althea Racing’s Carlos Checa went on to win the World championship title with Ducati scooping up the manufacturer’s title as well.
