This time of year there are a lot of “2012 Top Ten” lists and that got us thinking,  what was the most significant thing that happened in the world of Ducati in 2012?  Was it Rossi leaving? Audi buying? New models? All important and going forward these things will have a big impact on 2013 and beyond. But standing here, in 2012, looking back, it had to be Cook’s Last Ride…

Lorenzo: "I hear some rumours. And some rumours say that Valentino is going to come back."

JORGE Lorenzo would welcome Valentino Rossi back at Yamaha, believing that it could be good for the factory team.

Following the surprise announcement that Ben Spies would leave the factory Yamaha team at the end of the season, internet speculation was overrun with discussions of whether Rossi could take his seat.

On Spies' decision, the Spaniard said: "It’s sad news to hear that Ben is not continuing. For Yamaha it’s really sad, because he has been a Yamaha rider for a long time. I think he has great potential, and I wish him good luck in the future. Now we have to see what is going to happen with the second rider in Yamaha."

Rossi is not fading yet, insists Lorenzo | Yahoo! Eurosport

Valentino Rossi has not passed his peak and is still capable of returning to the forefront of MotoGP, insists his former team-mate Jorge Lorenzo.
After leaving Yamaha for Ducati in 2011, Rossi endured his first ever win-less season at world championship level.
But Lorenzo, who was Rossi's Yamaha team-mate from 2008-10, dismissed any suggestion that the Italian seven-time MotoGP champion's career was in decline.
"There's no age limit," Lorenzo told Gazzetta dello Sport. "[Carlos] Checa at 39 in superbikes is in his top form. Valentino is 33, he hasn't weakened."
Lorenzo suggested that Rossi's problem was not that his talent was fading, but that MotoGP was now so competitive it was harder to pull off good results on a difficult bike than it had been in the past....more
