This time of year there are a lot of “2012 Top Ten” lists and that got us thinking,  what was the most significant thing that happened in the world of Ducati in 2012?  Was it Rossi leaving? Audi buying? New models? All important and going forward these things will have a big impact on 2013 and beyond. But standing here, in 2012, looking back, it had to be Cook’s Last Ride…

To a generation of east coast race enthusiasts, Jimmy Adamo was crafty privateer who helped bolster the Ducati brand in US racing long before it became fashionable to race or own an Italian racing steed. For years his bikes were tuned by Reno Leoni, another east coast racing legend.

Here, via YouTube, is some incredibly rare footage of Adamo and Leoni at the 1985 Road Atlanta AMA National. It also includes footage of Leoni tuning a very early Cagiva two-stroke, four cylinder 500cc GP bike that Adamo rode in the F1 class.... more here: http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2012/May/120515b16.htm
