With World Ducati Week, the Ducati Riding Experience and the Troy Bayliss Academy all happening at the Misano World Circuit in Italy last summer, it became impossible to resist the urge to book a flight to Bologna so that I could participate in all the cool events taking place. While all the celebrations and good times at WDW are something to look forward to, the top of my list was getting track time on the Panigale S at one of the greatest circuits in the world.

On an event-filled day at the GP di San Marino e Riviera di Rimini, Valentino Rossi had his best race so far aboard the Desmosedici. In sunny and warm conditions, the Italian made it to the second step of the podium, having ridden at a pace that was second only to that of the winner, Jorge Lorenzo. The first start was cancelled, but Rossi enjoyed a great getaway when the red lights went out for the second time, and he exited the first turn in second place. From there, he held off attacks from first Stefan Bradl and then Alvaro Bautista before taking the chequered flag. For the rest click HERE

Nicky Hayden says he will not be able to judge if he is fit to compete at Misano this weekend until he gets some dry running...
The American was one of the few factory riders to take to the track on Friday as rain showers, cold temperatures and strong winds blighted the opening day of MotoGP's San Marino Grand Prix. Hayden completed five laps in the morning, having missed the Czech GP due to the hand injuries he sustained in his Indianapolis qualifying crash. He was pleased with his physical condition, but acknowledged that the tentative laps in the wet told him little.

The Ducati Team is preparing for its second home race of the season, which will take place on Sunday at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. The GP di San Marino e della Riviera Rimini is also an important round for Valentino Rossi, who lives near the circuit at which he has posted two wins and an additional podium finish. Nicky Hayden will return to the track after incurring an injury at Indianapolis that also forced him to miss the following Grand Prix, at Brno. The American has been undergoing rehabilitation in the United States, and Friday he’ll test the strength and endurance of his right hand, which had suffered two fractures. As usual at Misano, the Ducati Team will be supported by Ducati fans in the “Variante del Parco” grandstand, which is situated near the first corner.

Hector Barbera will return to the satellite Pramac Ducati squad at the forthcoming San Marino Grand Prix. The Spaniard broke his leg six weeks ago in a training accident, and was forced to sit out Laguna Seca as a consequence. He attempted to make his MotoGP return in the following grand prix at Indianapolis, but in first practice he fell heavily at Turn 16 and had to be stretchered off. Having also been forced to miss Brno, the 25-year-old says he is ready - even if not completely fit – to return at Misano. "I'm really excited that I'll ride this weekend on this amazing track," Barbera said. "I have a lot of good memories about Misano, especially from 2009 when I won in the middle class. "Obviously this year it is a different situation. I didn't ride for six weeks, but I made a big effort to be ready to race this weekend and the only thing I thought about during the rehabilitation was to be back on my Ducati as soon as I could. Marlboro Ducati's Valentino Rossi wrapped up his two-day test at Misano today, the Italian turning in some 80 laps while continuing to work with a new frame and swingarm - updates he'd first sampled during the post-MotoGP test at Mugello on July 15 - with the new components slated to be on the Desmosedici at the next round. "We carried out a series of tests with the chassis, and the results were interesting, though they still have to be checked against the other riders," Rossi said in a team release. "We also worked on the bike's setup, with the goal of trying to limit the drop in performance that we usually suffer after some laps, as the tires wear. We had some promising signs there as well, and we'll check them again in a race context." For the rest click HERE
Motocuatro.com. La web del mundial de motos. (translated via Google) The Ducati MotoGP and Superbike teams will be Tuesday and Wednesday in Misano to celebrate two days of private testing organized by the racing department of the Italian team, who was not present at yesterday's official MotoGP test held in Brno. Once announced his move to Yamaha, Ducati have decided not to accelerate production of the new engine long requested by Valentino on which development began in May. In Borgo Panigale have decided to take it easy the coming-out of this new engine, which according to Valentino himself said in Brno "I will try, but will be for next season." The private test, organized by Ducati, will be held in the paddock enclosure, and fans who pay five euro entry will see it from the stands. As usual, Ducati will issue a test report Wednesday morning, upon completion, through a statement.

Ducati SBK Team Althea - Testing at Misano Circuit - 28.09.2012 - Pure Sound Carlos Checa, Davide Giugliano on Ducati 1198 Testastretta Evoluzione...
That was a chaotic weekend. Two-and-a-half days lost to rain, then a bizarre series of hold ups and incidents on the start of the MotoGP grid that ended up eventually going a long way to deciding the championship. Fortunately for the series, the MotoGP race was preceded by two scintillating support races, and then the MotoGP race itself saw two very popular podiums. To start with the biggest issue, the start and then the restart of the MotoGP race. There was a lot of confusion and head-scratching over what was going on - the riders had never seen the flashing amber lights on the starting panels, for one - but when the dust settled, it looked like everything had been run almost by the numbers, despite the protests from Dani Pedrosa's camp.

Ducati Team’s Valentino Rossi, Nicky Hayden and test-rider Franco Battaini remained at the Misano track following yesterday’s GP to undertake a one-day private test, with all riders citing positive results.
American Hayden was first out on track, despite still nursing an injured right hand, which he raced with the day before. He went out both on his race-machine, and on the new bike, which Rossi used to get his second podium of the season. The new machine, featuring a new chassis and swingarm, received positive feedback from Hayden, despite him not being able to do a long run due to considerable pain in his hand. He did however state that as he has already been using a stiffer swingarm than Rossi recently, the main change came from the chassis. Improved braking and corner entry where some of the positives he highlighted, yet stated that for Aragón he still needed a few adjustments to the frame and potentially new front springs. Test rider Battaini continued the test on Hayden’s second bike.
