Pernat: this is Valentino's fault

Pernat: this is Valentino's fault | Ductalk Ducati News | Scoop.it

As usual Carlo Pernat gives abrupt judgements. Lorenzo: the best. Pedrosa: he could not do better than that. Marquez: frequent falls are fine. The Manager from Genoa  (Pernat) has been even unmerciful about the Ducati: he does not consider (with good reasons) the standings but the times. Too high. The manufacturer from Borgo Panigale seems undecided about what to do. And that is the worst thing. .

Rossi: ducatisti, I'm disappointed too | GPOne.com

Rossi: ducatisti, I'm disappointed too | GPOne.com | Ductalk Ducati News | Scoop.it

Despite coming off of his best dry weather result with Ducati, there are still many open questions for Valentino Rossi at Aragon. "This weekend will be an important test to better understand our level - the Italian rider revealed - we took a step forward, but we need to know how big it was. I tried other updates during the Monday post-race test that were also an improvement, but now we need confirmation."

GPone | Waiting in New York the AMG-Ducati

GPone | Waiting in New York the AMG-Ducati | Ductalk Ducati News | Scoop.it

(Translated from Italian)

The news of a partnership with a car manufacturer Ducati has started long ago, when Ducati signed a marketing agreement with AMG-Mercedes, has brought different fruits. Not to mention of course the fact that the MotoGP team often drives MotoGP Mercedes, of course, but the arrival of the Diavel AMG Special Edition (September 2011) or the presentation of the Streetfighter yellow seen for the first time last December at the Bologna Motor Show next to the Mercedes SLK 55 AMG of the same color.

Now it should arrive shortly another Mercedes colaboration: an AMG-Ducati, which should be launched on April 4th for the opening of the New York Auto Show. An ideal place for a presentation of this type since the U.S. is the first AMG sports market for the brand.
The question now is: Will this car really launch after rumors of the sale and acquisition of Ducati Ducati by Audi, VW group? Yes, because it seemed logical, since the agreements, which Bologna la Rossa was married with the German silver, now the scales seemed to move to the brand with the four circles.
If it is true that two coincidences are a clue if we will not see the AMG-Ducati in NY we could say that Audi has taken another step forward.
Of course, one wonders why one of the possible investors has not come forward from Italian industry . One chance, one that divides the Ducati red, and Geography. Would not it be really a perfect marriage? Ferrari, only one of all, sharing with Ducati philosophy, style and objectives. But it is true that not everyone who loves is getting married

GPOne.com | Checa: tires the problem in MotoGP

GPOne.com | Checa: tires the problem in MotoGP | Ductalk Ducati News | Scoop.it
Recently crowned WSBK champion Carlos Checa has considerable racing experience on a wide variety of machinery, so it was only logical that Ducati would seek out his opinion of the current Desmosedici. The Spaniard first tested the bike at Valencia in November, and he will do so again in January. Speaking about the GP experience recently with the Marca, Carlos pointed the finger at Bridgestone for many of the issues faced by the team and the sport in general: "It seems to me that the tires are responsible for the lack of excitement in MotoGP, and the reason the riders are crashing without understanding why."

Talking more specifically about Ducati, Carlos added: "There is a lot of talk about the bike and the chassis, but the real difference in this category comes from the tires. They are super rigid, it's hard to understand their limits, and the bikes have been built around the tires. If this doesn't change, the bikes will continue to be less than enjoyable to ride, hard to understand and easy to crash on. When you don't understand where the tire limits are, it becomes very complicated to develop a bike. The issue at Ducati isn't the chassis; they changed it four times and the result was always the same. The problem is the tires."

It will be interesting to see Bridgestone's reaction at the upcoming winter tests.

sounds logical. What mystifies me is that they are forced to race on a particular brand. What is the use of that? To my mind the whole idea of racing is product development, things that work eventually filter down to us "mere mortals"

Hayden: GP12 'evo' more mine than Rossi's | GPOne.com

Hayden: GP12 'evo' more mine than Rossi's | GPOne.com | Ductalk Ducati News | Scoop.it
Following his podium finish at Aragon in 2010 (his second and last dry weather podium on the Ducati), Nicky Hayden is looking to repeat that performance with the GP12 'evo', which he will race for the first time this weekend.
"Another 10 days have passed since Misano, and although I'm probably still not at 100% strength, I'm definitely better than I was then - the Kentucky Kid revealed - This track is a little easier physically than Misano, where there are several hard braking zones. Here there are a lot of elevation changes, and often you are braking somewhat softly while the bike is leaned over.

Bye Bye Miller? Hello Laguna Seca? | Ducati.net

Bye Bye Miller? Hello Laguna Seca? | Ducati.net | Ductalk Ducati News | Scoop.it

MotoGP insider Paolo Gozzi of GPOne.com believes SBK is in it’s last year at Miller.  It’s well known there are  problems with the Miller location and track,  which make this round an attendance under performer. They include racing on Monday to avoid religious conflict, disadvantages for TV audiences in the rest of the world who are not on national holiday on Monday, and of course the already mentioned small crowds. In 2008, when the primary goal was to get the series back in North America, a market important to series advertisers, it was possible to overlook these issues.  Now that both series have merged ownership, the perspective is different and it makes sense to consider a merge of venues, especially with so many N. American GP race choices.

GPOne.com | Top secret debut for Ducati

GPOne.com | Top secret debut for Ducati | Ductalk Ducati News | Scoop.it
The security measures in place at Jerez were those usually reserved for very secretive events, including the debut of very valuable machinery that must be shielded from the public eye. Thus Ducati ensured that no images were captured from their first of a three day test session. Of course the object of desire was the new GP12, if it will be called that, taking it's first steps in the hands of Franco Battaini and Carlos Checa.
The plan, as announced at Wrooom, was to have Battaini carry out reliability testing, while Checa began gathering the first setup data. Whether or not this was the case is still unknown, and so fans face a longer wait to find out the details of the latest Ducati creation. Technical director Filippo Preziosi spoke of a complete redesign from last version of the bike, and although it will again feature an aluminum twin-spar frame, there is speculation that the engine could either be oriented differently, or feature an tighter V angle.
UPDATE - Checa was on track with the 2012 Superbike, and he tested an electronics package that - it is speculated - could end up on the initial Desmosedici setup. He then took to the track with the GPZero, to establish some parameters for comparison over the the next two days. The 2012 GP12 should be tested extensively during the second day with Battaini, who is charged with performing shakedown runs for both machines.

GPOne.com | "Stoner: The Ducati? No Improvement"

GPOne.com | "Stoner: The Ducati? No Improvement" | Ductalk Ducati News | Scoop.it

(Translated from Italian)

With 2011 almost in the can, begins the countdown to the start of the 2012 season, which will be inaugurated by the test in Malaysia on January 31. On that date, the eyes will once again all about Rossi, as it happened a year ago. But if ten months ago had the curiosity to see the Doctor in red dress for the first time in just over 30 days will be to know if Valentino will be able to get out of the quicksand in which they are trapped throughout the sampled .

At Borgo Panigale engineers have not gone on vacation and that we will see in Sepang will be the "true" GP12, different from the first prototype took to the track in Valencia after the last race of the season . If it is true that you do not win the championship in the winter, it is undeniable that the values ‚Äč‚Äčembodied in the tests reflect those of the disastrous season and another year would be a nightmare that nobody wants to be faced.

Waiting to find the new creature by Filippo Preziosi, were the same colleagues Rossi to overreach on the competitiveness of the champion in 2012. Among his most avid supporters turned out, surprisingly, Jorge Lorenzo , which puts it unquestionably among the pretenders to the title . " Valentino can get back to winning at any time, has the talent and speed to do it "did not hesitate to affirm. On the other side of the fence however is Andrea Dovizioso, skeptical of a sudden miracle , " will improve the Ducati, but I do not think the point to play for the World . "

Stoner and Pedrosa have also said their feelings about the season of the Doctor, the only driver to be able to attract all the attention on himself, whether win or lose. Casey Stoner has not given up, in an interview with MCN to launch a little dig at his rival and chief mechanic Jeremy Burgess: " The reason this has not been a good season has a lot to do with Valentine and Jeremy and the criticisms that we had turned on the fact that we were not able to develop motion and that we would not know what to do. Certainly they are ten times more confused than we were on our way to go . In this season, although they had everything they wanted, did not improve anything. At the end we knew what path to follow, but we did not have the resources to do it, but now they have there but the are still going in the right direction . "

The Australian does not seem so amongst those who expect a fine start Rossi on top, while Dani Pedrosa , on pages Sport.es , proved to be much more diplomatic: " many have expressed their opinion on this topic and no one better than Rossi knows what happened, because it has adapted to the Ducati Stoner has been able to do. The first thing that comes to mind, without having tested the Ducati, is that after many years of riding Japanese bikes head Rossi was not ready for a change of this magnitude, so radical . "

The Spaniard seems to have hit a very important point, so that the next prototype Ducati will be the most "Japanese" of all the Desmosedici ever designed . The aluminum perimeter frame is the most obvious of revolutions made, but it is said that the hull does not conceal some other big news, motor in the first place. What is certain is that once again, the king and queen, from the media point of view, they will be the Championship, Red and Red, waiting to know if there will be two rulers with or without a crown .
